Elektrizitätsmuseum

The Electricity Museum in Munich stone was opened by the Elektra Birseck Munich stone occasion of its 100th anniversary at its factory complex in 1997.

In thousand square meters of exhibition space can be traced to the visitor the history of production and utilization. The collection includes historical rarities and is complemented by a techno laboratory where visitors can independently experiment with electricity ( pumped storage power plant, funicular, transformer principle, private radio station, electric motors, electric conductor / non-conductor, power down and plug the wall for electrical circuits ).

AC and special offer technology - interested a broad range of subjects. The Electricity Museum is one of its kind in Switzerland: a museum for " hands-on".

The museum is part of the further Basel Museum landscape and also participates in the Basel Museum Night.

• " Light - from kindling to the LED ". Exhibition opened on 14 June 2009 and lasted until 15 December 2009.
• "Communication - From smoke signals to the iPhone". Special exhibition from 24 October 2010 to 22 May 2011.
