Elemental (Tears for Fears album)

Elemental is the fourth studio album by the British band Tears for Fears. The album was released on 7 June 1993 with Phonogram and Mercury Records.

Genesis

After he had separated from Curt Smith the end of 1991 consisted Tears For Fears formally only from Roland Orzabal. He teamed up with guitarist Alan Griffiths and keyboardist and producer Tim Palmer. Griffiths was guitarist of the band The Escape, which had already helped Tears For Fears concert tours in 1983 and also Nicky Holland had heard, had written to the Orzabal together several songs for the last album, The Seeds of Love. Tim Palmer had with Tears For Fears at the compilation album Tears Roll Down ( Greatest Hits 82-92 ) worked. With Griffiths together Orzabal wrote all the songs except for Cold, a tribute to John Lennon, who wrote Orzabal alone. The album was in Neptune 's Kitchen, Orzabals home studio in West Bath, England, recorded and mixed by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering in Portland, Maine. In Cold has Roland's younger brother Julian Orzabal a guest appearance.
