Elena Obraztsova

Jelena Wassiljewna Obraztsova (Russian: Елена Васильевна Образцова, English transcription Elena Obraztsova Vasiliyevna; * July 7, 1939 in Leningrad ) is a Russian mezzo-soprano, known for an outstanding stage presence and exceptional vocal ability.

Life

As a child, Elena Obraztsova witnessed the siege of Leningrad from August 1941 to January 1943. 1954 to 1957 she studied at the music school of Taganrog and had his first appearances in the local theater. 1957 to 1958 she studied at the music school of Rostov-on- Don on.

In August 1958 Elena Obraztsova passed the exams and was a student at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. 1963 Obraztsova was invited to the Bolshoi Theatre, where she made ​​her debut as Marina in Mussorgsky's opera Boris Mnischek Godumow.
