Elena Valenciano

María Elena Valenciano Martínez- Orozco ( born September 18, 1960 in Madrid) is a Spanish politician ( PSOE).

Life and work

Valenciano visited the University with the degree in law and political science, and then had the leading position held in some non-governmental organizations. She was there Coordinator of the European Women's Lobby in Spain, deputy chairman of the Association of Women in Southern Europe and chairman of the Foundation Mujeres.

Valenciano is since 2000 member of the Executive Board of the PSOE and belonged until 2004 to the Federal Committee on. From 1999 to 2009 she was a member of the European Parliament. There she was speaker of the PES Group in the Sub-Committee on Human Rights.

Since September 29, 2012, it is one of the four Vice- President of the Party of European Socialists.
