Elfrida Andrée

Elfrida Andrée ( born February 19, 1841 in Visby, † January 11, 1929 in Gothenburg ) was a Swedish organist and composer.

The pupil of Ludvig Norman and Niels Wilhelm Gade was a representative of the women's movement. She was one of the first organists in Scandinavia. From 1861 onwards, she appeared in Stockholm and in 1867 organist at the Cathedral of Gothenburg. For her achievements, she was elected to the Swedish Academy of Music.

Andrées organ symphonies are performed up to the present. They also composed the opera Fritiofs saga ( to a text by Selma Lagerlof, 1899), several orchestral works, a piano quartet (1870 ) and a piano trio (1887 ), violin and piano pieces, a Swedish Exhibition and songs.
