In Fort Lauderdale he fought on the side of Gerd Müller and Cubillas before he returned to the Chilean giants Colo Colo in his native country in 1982. Elias owes its popularity not only to its high footballing ability. "He's from head to toe, an exemplary sportsman and comrade ," praised national team goalkeeper Mario Osbén.
