Elias John Wilkinson Gibb

Elias John Wilkinson Gibb ( born June 3, 1857 in Glasgow, † December 5, 1901 ) was a Scottish Orientalist. He devoted his life to the study of Turkish, Persian and Arab history, literature, philosophy and religion. His particular interest was the seal of the Ottomans, only the first volume of his six-volume History of Ottoman Poetry ( "History of the Ottoman Seal " ) was published during his lifetime, the other volumes were Edward G. Browne out.

In his honor, appeared a Elias John Wilkinson Gibb Memorial Series.
