Elias Tillandz

Tillandz Elias ( Elijah Tillands, Elias Erici Til - Landz, Elias Til - Landz ) (* 1640, † 1693) was a Finnish botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Tillandz ".

Life and work

Elias Tillandz was a professor of medicine at the Academy at Turku in Finland. He published in 1673 under the title Catalogus plantarum the first flora of Finland.

Ehrentaxon

Carl Linnaeus named after him, the plant genus Tillandsia of ( Tillandsia ), which belongs to the family of Bromeliaceae.
