Eliezer ben Samuel

Eliezer ben Samuel (* 1115 in Metz, † around 1198 in Mainz ) was a rabbi.

Life

Eliezer, which means something like "My God ( is ) the tool" means, was born around 1115 in Metz. He was a student of Jacob ben Meir, of which he was trained to be recognized Tosafists. His life was Eliezer ben Samuel in contact with it. After finishing his studies in Metz, he moved to the Rabbinical Court in Mainz.

In Mainz Eliezer served as a teacher for some important rabbis of this period, such as Baruch ben Samuel of Mainz, Eliezer ben Joel ha -Levi of Bonn, Simcha ben Samuel of Speyer, Eleazar ben Judah ben Kalonymos from Worms and Samuel ben Baruch from Bamberg.
