Elin Kristiansen

Elin Synnøve Kristiansen ( born July 9, 1968 in Elverum, Hedmark ) is a former Norwegian biathlete and seven -time medalist at Biathlon World Championships.

Elin Kristiansen lives in Slettås and entered for Vestre Trysil in Trysil Idrettslag to. She started unlike many other biathletes of their time back in 1982 as a junior in biathlon and won in 1987 and 1988 respectively at the Norwegian Junior Championships. 1988 Ting Full / Dombås she also won her first of six Norwegian championship titles in the assets. In addition to the singles title she finished second in the sprint and the relay from Hedmark to the next Siv Lunde Bråten still belonged Unni Kristiansen. The World Championships 1990 brought their top results in all disciplines, she started fifth in singles, won bronze in the sprint and back silver team ( Nykkelmo, Elvebakk, Kristiansen ). In 1991, she was put in solitary and Sprint number seven and eleven. With the relay, consisting of Grete Nykkelmo, Anne Elvebakk and herself she won her fifth silver medal at the world championships.

Kristiansen was nominated for the Norwegian team at the premiere of the Women's Biathlon at the Olympics in Albertville. As with the World Championships before she latched on top results in all competitions, but not to celebrate the big success. Fifteenth in the sprint, ninth in singles and seventh in the relay, in which Signe Trosten, Hildegunn Fossen and Kristiansen were used as the anchor leg, were their results. At the Olympic Games in 1994 in her home country she was again part of the team. But even in Lillehammer her was denied a medal win. In the individual it was weaker than usual with number 31, was found, however with tenth place in the sprint in good shape. Their most successful season in the World Cup had Kristiansen 1987/1988, when she was second overall behind Anne Elvebakk. In her career she won three individual races, the first victory was in the sprint in Antholz 1988. Yet in the same season they also won the individual at Holmenkollen in Oslo. Another sprint victory she succeeded in 1993 in Pokljuka. Five second and four third places, as well as about thirty top- ten finishes are also among their track record. In addition to these international successes they achieved nationally throughout her career numerous top rankings and secured in 1990 a second championship in individual competition next three team titles (1990, 1991, 1995 ) and a relay title (1995). Overall, they stood at national championships three times on the podium. Kristiansen started after their active time at recreational race and won, among other things Munksjørennet in Tørberget in March 2010.
