ELinks

ELinks is a free text-mode browser, which has emerged as Links2 from the text browser links. As a basis the version 0.96 of links used. The name ELinks meant initially experimental and links can be interpreted as either Enhanced or Extended Links Links today.

The objectives of the ELinks project, which started at the end of the year 2001, to develop the most user-friendly text browser, a quick but clean rendering engine and a smaller graphical browser that but could be cleaved from Links2.

The main features of ELinks:

  • Supported protocols: local files, finger, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, FSP, IPv4, IPv6
  • Experimental support for BitTorrent, Gopher, NNTP
