Elisabeth Altmann-Gottheiner

Elisabeth Altmann - Gottheiner ( born March 26, 1874 in Berlin, † 21 October 1930 in Mannheim) was one of the first German university teachers and as a women's rights activist active.

Life

Elisabeth Gottheiner studied in London and Berlin. In 1904, the promotion was followed in Zurich with the investigation studies on the Wuppertal textile industry and its workers over the last 20 years.

In 1908 she was the first female lecturer at the Graduate School of Mannheim. In 1912 she published the Yearbook of the feminist movement. In 1921 she published The career prospects of German academics (Halle / Saale). 1925, she was awarded the official title of full professor.

Elisabeth Gottheiner married in 1906 the economist Samuel Paul Altmann ( 1878-1933 ).

The University of Mannheim awarded annually since 1996 to Elisabeth Altmann - Gottheiner Prize, sponsored by the Commission for the Promotion of Equal development of women in study, research and teaching. The purpose of the Foundation is: Award of scientific works of students of all disciplines ( Diplom, Magister, Master, State Thesis ), University of Mannheim in the field of Women's and Gender Studies.
