Elisabeth Jerichau-Baumann

Elisabeth Jerichau -Baumann ( born November 21, 1819 in Warsaw, † July 11, 1881 in Copenhagen) was a Danish painter.

Elisabeth Jerichau -Baumann, wife of Jens Adolf Jerichau and mother of Harald Jerichau, studied in Dusseldorf and painted earlier with fondness images from the Slovaks life, but made, since she lived in Rome, especially the local people life the object of their representations.

Later she traveled to Greece and Egypt. Her works are mostly decorative and treated poorly in the drawing, but executed with fine color sense and a preference for romantic lighting effects.

They usually presented life-size figures represent (a Greek shepherd the Parthenon, Egyptian women) and also painted portraits, one of which was by the Brothers Grimm and served as a template for the 1000 Mark note the fourth and final series of the German mark. She died on 11 July 1881 in Copenhagen.
