Elisabeth Leonskaja

Her somewhat, Russian Елизавета Леонская, ( born November 23, 1945 in Tbilisi, Soviet Union) is a Russian pianist.

Life

Leonskaya was the daughter of Russian parents - his mother was Jewish - born in Tbilisi and was regarded early on as a child prodigy who was first piano concertos in the Georgian capital at the age of eleven years. In 1964 she began studying at the Moscow Conservatory with Professor Jacob Milstein, sponsored by the renowned pianist Sviatoslav Richter. During this time, she won prizes in international competitions in Bucharest, Brussels and Paris.

She left the Soviet Union in 1978 and since then has lived in Vienna. Numerous CD recordings and performances throughout the world, as at the Salzburg Festival, and cooperation with the leading conductors of her time and nearly all the leading orchestras, among others, with Sviatoslav Richter, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Guarneri String Quartet, bear witness to their international recognition. She is an honorary member of the Vienna Konzerthaus.
