Elizabeth Esty

Elizabeth Esty Henderson ( born August 25, 1959 in Oak Park, Illinois) is an American politician. Since 2013, it represents the state of Connecticut in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Elizabeth Henderson, so her maiden name, grew up in Minnesota and attended the local Winona Senior High School. She then studied until 1981 at Harvard University in Massachusetts. After a subsequent law degree from Yale University and her 1985 was admitted as a lawyer, she began to work in this profession. At times she taught the Law Faculty at American University. At the same time they hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 2005 and 2008 she served on the city council of Cheshire; 2008-2010 she was a Member of the House of Representatives from Connecticut.

In the congressional elections of 2012, Esty was in the fifth electoral district of Connecticut in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected, where they prevailed against Republican State Senator Andrew Roraback. In Congress, she appeared on January 3, 2013, the successor to the exchanged in the U.S. Senate Chris Murphy.

Elizabeth Esty is married since 1984 and has one daughter. Her husband Daniel C. Esty is Minister ( Commissioner) for energy and environmental protection of the State of Connecticut.
