Elizabeth Ryan

Elizabeth Montague Ryan ( born February 8, 1892 in Anaheim, California, † July 8, 1979 in Wimbledon, United Kingdom) was an American tennis player.

Career

As a single player, it was Elizabeth Ryan not permitted to win one of the big tournaments. She stood twice in the finals of Wimbledon (1921, 1930 ) and once in the final of Forest Hills, but she could not decide for the playoffs.

In doubles, she is, however, to date, the most successful player at Wimbledon. In 13 playoff appearances, she won 12 times: 1914, 1919-1923, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1930, 1933, 1934 In Mixed she was similarly successful. . Here she won 7 times with five different partners in 10 playoff appearances. Also in the doubles and mixed competitions in Paris and Forest Hills, she was successful.
