Elkhart County, Indiana

Elkhart County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Goshen.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme north of Indiana, adjacent to Michigan and has an area of 1212 square kilometers, of which ten square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: St. Joseph County ( Michigan), LaGrange County, Noble County, Kosciusko County, Marshall County, St. Joseph County and Cass County ( Michigan).

History

Elkhart County was formed on January 29, 1830 from parts of Allen County and Cass County. It was named after the flowing near Elkhart River.
