Ellen Glasgow

Ellen Anderson Gholson Glasgow ( born April 22, 1873 in Richmond, Virginia; † November 21, 1945 ibid ) was an American writer.

Life and work

From 1897, she wrote 20 novels and numerous short stories in which she often describes life in Virginia. Glasgow established a lifelong friendship with the writer James Branch Cabell. In 1942 she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for the novel In This Our Life. After her death, Glasgow was buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia.
