Ellen Streidt

Ellen Streidt (born Strophal, divorced Wendland; born July 27, 1952 in Wittstock ) is a former German sprinter and Olympic champion who competed for East Germany.

At the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, she won the gold medal in the 4 x 400 - meter relay and bronze in the 400 -meter run behind the Polish Irena Szewińska ( gold) and Christina Brehmer -Lathan from the GDR (Silver).

Successes in detail

On 15 June 1972 she equaled the world record in the 100 -meter run of 11.0 s on 4 September 1974, she presented a DDR record over 400 meters in 50.69 s on, she on 12 July 1975 50.52 s improved. In 1980 she finished her sporting career and worked as a German teacher and as a staff member of a cultural and political institution. After the end of the GDR, she was employed by the Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin- Brandenburg.
