Geography

Geographical Location

Ellhofen lies in the valley of the Sulm, about seven kilometers east of Heilbronn, in Gipskeuper. Geographically, the town is still in the Swabian-Franconian Forest mountains. The highest elevation is 253 m high mountain heretic, a reed sandstone foothills of Löwenstein Mountains that provides a panoramic view of Weinberg Valley.

Neighboring communities

Neighboring cities and municipalities are vineyard in west and north, the east and Obersulm Lehrensteinsfeld in the south, all belonging to the district Heilbronn. A small Ellhofener exclave (only forest ) is located northeast of the actual community between Vineyard Wimmental, Obersulm and Bretz field ( Hohenlohe ). Together with Eberstadt, Lehrensteinsfeld and vineyard forms Ellhofen the Gemeindeverwaltungsverband "Space Vineyard " located in the vineyard.

Community structure

To Ellhofen There are no other districts or places in a geographical sense. On the Ellhofener district, the Outbound, now-defunct place Burkhard meadows was but sooner ( perhaps on the boundary Weinberg).

History

Ellhofen is mentioned in the letter Öhringer Foundation on the establishment of Öhringer Canons by Bishop Gebhard II of Regensburg in 1037 for the first time. Half Ellhofens was at that time already in possession of this pin. Court and Bailiwick, and thus the authority over Ellhofen lay before the mid-14th century in the men of New Stone, the 1354 three-quarters sold the Öhringer pin on the court and in the Bailiwick. The remaining quarter came in 1356 on Wolf von Stein, who had inherited it from his father Conrad of New stone at Engelhard of the vineyard.

After removing the pin in the Reformation its goods and thus its local share of Ellhofen were managed by the Count of Hohenlohe, who had previously represented, as governors in the pen Ellhofen. The Weinberger share finally went in two stages in 1412 and 1450, first in the Palatinate and 1504 in Württemberg, which increased its share in 1755 to the upper office vineyard then assigned. In Ellhofen there are a Lutheran church (since 1952, previously branch of Weinberger church ), the church was mentioned in the 14th century the Holy Cross, St. Peter and St. Genevieve, and Apostolic church with its own church building. Coat of arms and flag

The blazon of the coat of arms Ellhofener is: Azure, two diagonally crossed silver key with swept down and away beards. The municipal flag is white and blue.

The key is the attribute of St. Peter. In the Ellhofener community sealing, the key can be observed since 1844. They can be related to both Peter as co-patron of the Ellhofener Church and the pen in Öhringen, which since the 11th century in Ellhofen had possession and was dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul. 1938 were the key figures of the coat of arms for the first time to Ellhofener coat of arms. The coat of arms colors have also been suggested in 1938 by the Württemberg Archives Directorate. Coat of arms and flag colors were awarded the municipality on 25 March 1963 by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior.

Partner community

After first contacts in 1986 is since 1988 the Italian Volterra ( Pisa Province, Tuscany ) partner community Ellhofens. In Ellhofen the association takes care of the maintenance of international relations to the care of the partnership.

The Church of the Holy Cross, St. Peter and Genevieve is the Protestant parish church Ellhofens. It houses the Ellhofener altar, a significant carved from the 16th century.

Regular events

The Ellhofener Carnival Association, the Sulmtalnarren with their symbolic figure Till, held every year at carnival time a move as well as various ceremonial sessions. On the first weekend of the month of September, the Musikverein Ellhofen organizes Ellhofener Straßenkärwe around the church square. On the 1st weekend after May 1 will take place, organized by clubs spring festival in and around the community.

Economy and infrastructure

Viniculture

Ellhofen is a traditional wine-growing village in the wine region of Baden- Württemberg, which documents belong to the large-scale situations Staufenberg and salt mines in the area Württembergisch sub country. Viticulture in the place has survived since 1264. The Ellhoferin Petra Seiter was 1989/90 Württemberg wine queen.

Traffic

Ellhofen located at the motorway junction vineyard of the A81 (Würzburg to Singen (Hohentwiel ) ), exit Vineyard / Ellhofen. The Federal Highway 39 and the railroad Heilbronn- Crailsheim, today drive on both the rail Heilbronn as well as regional express trains pass through the town; Stadtbahn Heilbronn goes to Öhringen. Established businesses
