Ellice River

Ellice River ( Inuktitut: Kuunnuaq ) is a river in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut in Canada.

It has its origin about 25 km east of the Beechey Lake. From there it flows northward to Queen Maud Gulf. There he joins the Campbell Bay.

The terrain between the Ellice River and Sherman Inlet is mainly flat marshland. Musk oxen and barren-ground caribou frequent the area.

The river was named in honor of Edward Ellice Jr..

Fauna

In the Ellice River of char occurs. Large Brent Goose populations breed on coastal islands off the mouth of the Ellice River.
