Elliot Aronson

Elliot Aronson ( born January 9, 1932) is an American psychologist who became famous for his contributions to social psychology and educational psychology, particularly through his standard textbook " Social Psychology ", his research on cognitive dissonance and his group jigsaw teaching method. He is professor emeritus of the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Life and work

Aronson grew up during the Great Depression on in Revere (Massachusetts ), where he had to fight off as a Jewish boy often anti-Semitic attacks. In 1954, he earned his bachelor's degree from Brandeis University ( where he met Abraham Maslow worked ), 1956 his master's degree from Wesleyan University ( where he worked with David McClelland worked ) was Leon Festinger and his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1959.
