Elliott Cresson Medal

The Elliott Cresson Medal was the highest award of the Franklin Institute. She was given a total of 269 persons from 1875 to 1997 at. It was named after the philanthropist Elliott Cresson (1796-1854), who donated for 1848 1000 dollars. Since 1998, the Franklin Institute will award only the Benjamin Franklin Medal. She was awarded both for excellence in science as well as in trade and industry, for engineers and for inventions and not only to individuals but also to companies and institutions.
