Ellipi

Ellipi was a kingdom in the Zagros Mountains in present day Iran. It is known almost exclusively from Assyrian sources of the 9th to 7th century BC. In the population of Ellipi seems to have acted mainly ranchers who were perhaps related to the Elamites and Lulubi.

If we are to believe the Assyrian representations, they lived partly in fortified cities. Several times it is mentioned that they had to pay tribute.

Dalta of Ellipi was conquered by Sargon in the course of his sixth campaign 716. After that he was " an obedient slave who was wearing my yoke " (Nimrud prism fragment E). 713 rebelled against five of its provinces Dalta, refused to pay tribute to the Assyrians and driven the king. Sargon and his generals, because this year the king remained in Assyria after Eponymenchronik - threw these provinces in his ninth campaign down ( " like a net " ) and captured the fortified city Ḫubaḫna, its center, and 25 cities. He made 33,600 prisoners and captured 600 mules and donkeys. Dalta died 708

In the 7th century Ellipi disappears from the sources, it may have been overrun by the Kimmerern.
