Elmer Diktonius

Elmer Rafael Diktonius ( born January 20, 1896 in Helsinki, † September 23, 1961 ) was a Swedish writer finland.

Life and work

Diktonius is considered one of the most important representatives of the Finland-Swedish modernism. He debuted in 1921 with the work of Min dikt. In all, he published eleven collections of poetry and prose works, including the novel Janne Kubik (1932) and the two-volume collection of short stories Medborgare i republics Finland (1935 and 1940).

In addition to his literary activities Diktonius also worked as a translator, literary and music critic and composer. He was also co-editor of the journals and Ultra Quosego.

Diktonius was a socialist. His later life was marked by alcoholism and he was also suffering from Alzheimer 's disease. Diktonius was buried in the cemetery Sandudd in Helsinki.

Criticism
