Elnur Mammadli

Elnur Məmmədli ( English spelling Elnur Mammadli, born 29 June 1988) is an Azerbaijani judoka. He stepped up to 2008 mainly in the lightweight ( 73 kg class up ) that since 2010 he starts mostly in the Light Middleweight ( class to 81 kilograms).

Məmmədli won the 2004 U17 European Championships, the same year he won his first Azerbaijani national champion. This title he defended in 2005, internationally was the second place in the World Cup tournament in Budapest his hitherto greatest success. His first international title he won at the 2006 European Championships in Tampere. In 2007 he won the World Cup in Rome, at the Judo World Championships in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, he won the silver medal behind the South Korean Wang Ki -chun. 2008 Məmmədli won the World Cup tournament in Hamburg and took third place in Moscow. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he won the gold medal, which he claimed thirteen seconds defeated by ippon in the final Wang Ki- Chun. Məmmədli was the first Azerbaijani Olympic medalist in judo and the only Olympic champion of his country at the Olympic Games 2008.

After a year's break Məmmədli came back in 2010 and won the light middleweight Weltcuptunier in Cairo, at the judo world championships 2010 he finished fifth. In 2011 he won at the Start of the Masters Tournament, which was held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, 2011. In April 2011, he won the European Championships in Istanbul. 2012 Məmmədli could again win the Masters Tournament, this time in Almaty.
