Els Aarne

Els Aarne (actually Else Aarne, after her marriage Else Paemuru ) ( born March 30, 1917 in Dimitrijewsk, today Makijiwka (Ukraine ); † June 14, 1995 in Tallinn, Estonia) was an Estonian composer.

Aarne studied at the conservatory in Tallinn until 1939 Music Education at Gustav Ernesaks until 1942 piano with Theodor Lemba and composition with Heino Eller to 1946. From 1944 to 1974 she taught music theory and piano at the State Conservatory in Tallinn (now Music and Theatre Academy ).

Els Aarne came mainly as a composer in appearance. She wrote two symphonies (1961, 1966 ), two cello concertos (1974, 1980), a Concerto for Double Bass (1968), symphonic poems, chamber music, cantatas: " At home " (1939 ), "The song of our day " (1965 ), choruses and songs.
