Els Poblets
Dénia is a Spanish municipality in the Valencian Community with 3402 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 of which 800 German ), which is located in the north of the province of Alicante in the region of Marina Alta. The picturesque small town (old part of Dénia ) is situated close to the mountains as well as on the Mediterranean. Through the town flows the small river Girona. On 12 October 2007 a flood caused severe damage.
History
The story of Dénia ( German: The villages ) goes back to Roman times. Today, an old watch tower and the remains of a Roman villa are the witnesses of past times.
Dénia is formed from the merger of three villages: Setla, Mira- pink and Miraflor. In the 17th century they joined first under the name Els Llocs ( German: The places ) together, but parted again. On May 6, 1971, she united for the second time and gave the name " Dénia ".
Current situation
Today, the site of the traditional trade and handicrafts, but also increasingly from tourism is alive. The new part of Dénia, which is located in Setla, applies together with Las Rotas as the most expensive residential area in the region around the town of Dénia. There are numerous, large holiday houses but also apartment buildings (especially German ) who have their second home or settled completely there in Dénia Dénia respectively. Land prices in Dénia are very high, which has led in recent years to the fact that almost all wealthy people have settled there.
Dénia is also a place of celebration. The patron saint of Dénia is, in honor of the Divino Salvador celebrated every year on 28th July ( German Holy Savior ). It goes back to the discovery of a statue of the saint at the Platja Almadrava. According to legend, the crew of a ship was ready to sacrifice the statue after a hard journey over the sea at the first sight of land to the sea. The Church of Salvador, in which the statue of the saint is preserved, was restored only recently around.
The patron saint in Dénia differs fundamentally from the festivities such as back knows from Austria. It lasts for a week. The festivities include bulls, paella nights, Fairground, Correfocs ( Fireworks ), street parades, Pilota tournaments and exhibition fight the " Moros y Cristianos ". The festivities reach on 6 August, the "Day of the Savior " peaked. For this, the inhabitants of the place at a despertà be awakened with firecrackers. Then there are street parades, a procession and a Mass in honor of the patron saint. The end of the festivities each year, is an impressive fireworks display.
