Geography

Elsendorf lies in the region of Landshut in the Hallertau in Abenstal.

There are the following districts: Appersdorf, Horneck, Mitter Stetten, Ratzenhofen. Other districts are Allakofen, Margaret Thann, Haunsbach, Wolfenhausen and Horneck.

History

Elsendorf belonged to the Lord of Kretz. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and was part of the closed Hofmark Ratzenhofen. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818 the municipality Ratzenhofen.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, until then independent municipality Appersdorf was incorporated into the municipality Ratzenhofen. On January 1, 1978, added Mitter Stetten. The community Elsendorf got its name only in 1985 by renaming the existing community Ratzenhofen.
