Elsfleth is a town in the district Weser march in the Oldenburg region in Lower Saxony ( Germany ). Geography

Location

Elsfleth is located on the Hunte, which comes from the Oldenburg region, directly to their confluence with the Weser. The city of Oldenburg is located southwest of Elsfleth. In the southeast lies Bremen.

Neighboring communities

In the north the city is bounded by the municipality Ovelgönne and in the north east by the county seat Brake. Nature Reserves

History

Elsfleth is a first documentary mention in 1220, one of the older towns on the Lower Weser. Parts of today's urban area, however, were settled long before. It is possible that even with the mentioned by Ptolemy Tekelia around the settlement site at Elsfleth - Hogenkamp. The exact date of the local foundation is unknown.
