History

The municipality was created on 1 July 2003 from the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Bornitz, Draschwitz, Göbitz, Könderitz, Langendorf, Profen, Rehmsdorf, Reuden, Spora ( with the hamlet Oelsen ) and Tröglitz. The common administrative headquarters is located in Old Tröglitz in the industrial and business park, which emerged from the Altindustriestandort " hydrogenizing Zeitz ".

During the Second World War ( 1944), a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp was set up for 4,300 prisoners in what is now the district Gleina and later in Rehmsdorf, which had in the lignite - Benzin AG ( " Brabag " ) Zeitz of forced labor. 33 victims of forced labor were buried in the local cemetery of Gleina.
