Geography

Elterlein situated in the Ore Mountains. The city spreads out radially from the lying on a plateau marketplace starting, uphill to the treasure stone and on three sides sloping down to the place surrounding wetlands along Schlangengraben and Schwarzenbach, from.

Districts

The city Elterlein exists since the incorporation of Schwarzenbach in 1996 from two and since the incorporation of Hermann village in 1999 from three districts. Located on State Road 258 between Elterlein and Zwoenitz Burgstädtel does not form its own district.

Neighboring communities

History

Elterlein

The place was in the middle ages on an important trade route between Halle and Prague, the salt road over the pass Preßnitzer. The name is usually so Elterlein derived from Altarlein, a small altar at this very way. For the first time Elterlein 1406 was mentioned. Statements indicating that the place was already in 1118, are not used. The first mentioned as a city is busy writing only for 1483.

Elterlein won during the Great Berggeschreys, by the burgeoning mining industry in the Ore Mountains, rapidly in importance. In 1500 the town had its own administration authority for its mines. Middle of the 19th century was the mining, as in the entire region, also in Elterlein back and was discontinued. But even today there are numerous testimonies of the old mining to find. Was side - tunnel mouth holes, heaps and day breaks, the idyllic Black Pond, the end of the 16th century, created together with the artificial stone ditch to operate a mine.

By the early mining manufacturing sector such as mills, hammer and iron works emerged. During the industrialization Elterlein was in March 1848 in addition to Mittweida a scene of Nagelschmiede uprising. This was aimed at new factories, which could not compete with the Nagelschmiede as artisans and microentrepreneurs in free competition and therefore saw threatened by this their livelihoods. In Elterlein the Leinbrocksche factory was stormed by the insurgents.

Through several sprawling city fires in the years 1662, 1676, 1719, 1861 and 1868 Elterlein was often badly damaged.

Schwarzenbach

In the year 1240 the Waldhufendorf Schwarzenbach is first mentioned in a transfer of title deed to the monastery green grove.

The town was incorporated on April 1, 1996.

Hermann village

Hermann village is believed to be populated in 1200 and 1460 first documentary mentioned Waldhufendorf. Again coined to 1873, in addition to agriculture, particularly the mining centuries life, leaving visible signs such as the soap base with two powerful Raith Alden.

The town was incorporated on January 1, 1999.

Policy

Elterlein 2009 is a member of the administrative community Zwoenitz, in the Zwoenitz is the most fulfilling community since January 1. Previously, the city was a member of the administrative community Geyer.

Karl Weinhold (CDU ) was from 1990 to 2009 full-time mayor of the city Elterlein. On 9 November 2009 took over the post of honorary mayor Siegbert Ullrich (CDU Hermann village).

Twin Cities

Since September 14, 2004, there is an official twinning with the town of Belém in Lower Saxony, which is based on first contacts in the 1950s. Since 1953, with links to community Remshalden in Baden -Württemberg, in 2003 also sealed with an official partnership.

Religion

Economy and infrastructure

Economy

Carrying on the tradition of the early existing manufacturing Elterlein is today, considering its here 1471 social insurance employees ( as at 30 June 2007) and total and foreign sales, one of the regionally significant industrial sites with the automotive supplier industry is the largest employer. Significant based businesses are among other Bodet & Horst GmbH & Co. KG, Linnemann -Schnetzer Sachsen GmbH, Max Bögl GmbH & Co. KG and Takata -Petri ( Sachsen) GmbH.

Traffic

Elterlein located on a feeder road for the Upper Erzgebirge, State Road 258 offers a direct and fast connection between the A72 (AS Stollberg -West) and the B101 ( with disc mountain).

With the railway line Zwoenitz disc mountain, the city had in 1900 and a rail connection. After the partial dismantling of the track in 1947 as war reparations to the Soviet Union, in 1966 the railway was finally set again and the remaining part way between Elterlein and Scheibenbergstraße also dismantled.
