Elva R. Kendall

Elva Roscoe Kendall (* February 14, 1893 in Carlisle, Nicholas County, Kentucky; † January 29, 1968 ) was an American politician. Between 1929 and 1931 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Elva Kendall attended the public schools of his home and then the YMCA School of Accountancy in New York City. Then he studied at the National University in Washington DC In the following years, Kendall worked as accountants and public accountants. He was also engaged in farming. During World War II he was in the personnel department of the 61st American Division. Between 1922 and 1927 he worked as an auditor in the field for the U.S. Treasury.

Politically, Kendall member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1928, he was elected the ninth electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he became the successor of Fred M. Vinson on March 4, 1929. Since 1930 he his predecessor Vinson defeated in the elections of the year, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1931. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives to Elva Kendall withdrew from politics. He took his previous jobs as an accountant and agriculture back on and died on 29 January 1968.
