Emanuel Berg

Emanuel Berg ( born December 28, 1981 in Skövde ) is a Swedish chess player.

Life

Since 2004 he has chess grandmaster. In July 2007 he joined the policies Cup in Helsingor on the shared first place and won as the best Scandinavian Nordic Championship. At the Swedish national championship in July 2008, in Växjö, he shared with Tiger Hillarp Persson win the tournament. In the national championship in 2009, he won Kungsör think the title with 9.5 points from 13 games.

In Chess Olympiads he played in 2002, 2004 and 2006 for the national team, but he scored 17.5 points from 29 games. From 2001 to 2004 he played for Hamburger SK in the chess Bundesliga and reached 12 points from 23 games. In the German Chess Bundesliga he played for the 1999/2000 season, first for PSV Duisburg, then for SF Baiertal - Schatthausen, Hamburger SK and Hansa Dortmund.

With his current Elo rating of 2610 (July 2009) he is # 1 on the Swedish ranking. Unlike Ulf Andersson, the longtime top players in Sweden, Berg is considered offensive player. He is an expert of the Najdorf Variation, on which he has also published in New In Chess.

Mountain is father of two.
