Emanuel Moravec

Emanuel Moravec ( born April 17, 1893 in Prague, † May 5, 1945 ) was a Czech military, book author and collaborator. Under the pseudonym Stanislav Yester he published reports. During the German occupation between 1939 and 1945 Moravec was determined by the German Minister of Education and National Enlightenment in terms dependent on the German occupying forces government of the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia. His name is now in the Czech Republic as a symbol of the collaborator.

Life

After studying at a college of industry Moravec in 1914 was drafted into military service. He deserted in Russia from the k.u.k. Army and joined there at the Czech Legion.

After the proclamation of Czechoslovakia, he returned and took after studying at the Military School in Prague leading positions in the Czechoslovak army. In 1924 he was appointed head of the news department of the main rod. In 1926, he acted as a key witness with the dishonorable discharge of General Radola Gajda, who had 1925 Národní Obec Fašistická (National Fascist community) launched. From 1931 worked Moravec as a lecturer in military history and strategy at the Military Academy (1933 Col. ).
