Emanuel Schreiber

Emanuel Schreiber ( born December 13, 1852 in Leibnik, Moravia, † March 1932 ) was a rabbi and journalist.

Emanuel Schreiber received his education at the Yeshiva in Leibnik and attended the rabbinical seminary at Eisenstadt and at the Hochschule in Berlin ( doctorate in Heidelberg 1873). In 1874 he was appointed teacher at the Samson school in Wolfenbüttel. After that, he was rabbi of Elbing (1875 ) and Bonn ( 1878).

1881 was followed by a scribe reputation in the United States to Mobile, where he remained as rabbi until 1883, when he was elected rabbi of Denver. Later he served in the same capacity in Los Angeles ( 1885-89 ), Little Rock ( 1889-1891 ), Spokane ( 1891-92 ), Toledo ( 1892-97 ) and Youngstown ( Ohio) ( 1897-1899 ). From 1899 on, he was rabbi of Congregation Emanu - El, Chicago.

Schreiber 1876 to 1881 the " Jewish community and family newspaper " (later "The reform " ) out, and from 1893 to 1896 the " Chicago Occident ". He has written numerous essays for the Jewish press.
