Emanuel Viveiros

Emanuel Viveiros (born 8 January 1966 in St. Albert, Alberta ) is a former Austrian- Canadian professional ice hockey player who has played for many years as a defender in Austria. After the end of his active career in the 2006/07 season he became head coach in his parent club EC KAC.

Career

Viveiros began his playing career with the St. Albert Saints and the Prince Albert Raiders in the 1981 season / 82nd Already in the 1983/84 season he was able to record in 67 games in the regular season for 109 points (94 assists thereof). NHL Entry Draft 1984 he was selected by the Edmonton Oilers, and came in the 1985/86 season to first appearances for the Minnesota North Stars of the National Hockey League. In total, he spent three seasons in the NHL, but could there not prevail and played mainly for various teams in the Minor League.

Having already played in the 1989/90 season in the second German Hockey League ESV Kaufbeuren he finally put his career in 1991 in Europe continued and played over four seasons for the Austrian Club EC VSV. After a year at the EHC Lustenau, he joined the German Hockey League to the Schwenningen Wild Wings, before he returned to Austria. In the season 2000/ 01 he finally landed in his parent club EC KAC, which he has remained true to this day.

Viveiros established himself as a mainstay of defense and excelled over the years through informed and effective game. After his naturalization he ran on well for the Austrian national team in the Olympic qualification and the Ice Hockey World Championship in 2005.

As the EC KAC in the season 2005 /06 in sporting turmoil came and coach Mats Waltin was released, Viveiros took over yet as an active player for three games, the Office of the coach, before he was replaced by Kevin Primeau, but this also failed to impress. When he was injured in the season 2006/ 07 on the back and had to end his active career, he went to Primeaus successor as head coach and signed a five -year contract with the EC KAC. He was assisted by the end of 2008/ 09, the KAC veteran Mario damage as an assistant coach and Gerald Ressmann as a youth coach who supports him on the bench ( 2009 /10).

The first fully managed by him 2007/08 season began even with setbacks, but he managed to December, to form a powerful team that took part in the second round as the most successful team (but lack of bonus points from the regular season into second place went ). In the playoffs, the EC KAC was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the HDD Olimpija Ljubljana.

For the season 2008/ 09 increased Viveiros the team with some experienced players from DEL and brought back the former KAC player Christoph Brandner.
