The coat of arms of Bhutan is in this form since 1980 in use.

Description

The coat of arms shows a slice in which two dragons rotate around the wheel of a double vajra.

The double vajra symbolizes the harmony between religious and secular power.

The dragons are the name of the country, Druk Yul, which means translated from the language Dzongkha into the German Land of the Dragon. Up keep the dragon three times the gem of Buddhist philosophy.

There is a Ashtamangala screen ( Skt. Chattra ) About the wheel, which sounds like a heart sign. The shield is a symbol of the spiritual protection of the people of Bhutan and his king.

Under the wheel is a lotus flower, sign of peace, tranquility and purity.
