The coat of arms of Saudi Arabia is in use since 1950.

Description

The coat of arms shows a palm tree over two crossed Scimitaren ( oriental saber).

Symbolism

Palm and saber apply since about 1930 as a national emblem of Saudi Arabia.

The date palm symbolizes agriculture and the oases in the desert, while the two scimitars bring the determination to defend Islam.

The Two figure of Scimitare also represents the combined parts of the country Hejaz and Najd, the two core country of the Kingdom of Sauditen that called itself until 1932 "Kingdom of Hejaz and Najd ."

The green color is also recalled that the state has emerged from the union of Hejaz and Najd.
