Emblem of Sudan

The coat of arms of Sudan was introduced in 1969. It shows a secretary wearing a shield from the time of Muhammad Ahmad, the self-proclaimed Mahdi, who briefly ruled Sudan in the 19th century. The typical African bird is chosen as Alleinstellungsmarkmal towards the Arab Saladin eagles and hawks Quraysh. The coat of arms carries two Arabic script Banner: the top one shows the state motto النصر لنا ( an-Nasr Lana, dt: Victory is Ours ), the lower the country's name جمهورية السودان ( ǧumhūrīyat as- Sudan, dt: Republic of the Sudan ).

The coloring of the coat of arms is based on the Pan-Arab colors.
