Embolectomy

Embolectomy (also: thrombectomy, thromboendarterectomy ) is the medical term for the removal of an embolus or thrombus (blood clot ) with a balloon catheter. For this purpose, the balloon catheter is inserted into the sealed vessel until after the embolus, then the balloon catheter is inflated. Subsequently, the embolus can be pulled out by slowly pulling on the catheter.
