EMERGCON

Emergency Conditions (german emergency conditions ), abbreviated as EMERGCON called a emergency alarm -like state of the U.S. armed forces in response to a so-called ICBM attack ( air raid with rockets).

During a EMERGCON all the armed forces are put into DEFCON 1.

The two -stage EMERGCON

• DEFENSE EMERGENCY: A large-scale attack on U.S. overseas forces or allied forces or an outright attack of any kind directly on the United States is confirmed by the commander of a unified or specified command or higher authority.

• AIR DEFENSE EMERGENCY is an emergency stage which is called out by leading commanders of the North American Air Defense Command. Signals that a direct attack by enemy aircraft or missiles at the United States, Canada or U.S. installations in Greenland is likely imminent or already underway.
