Emerson College

The Emerson College is a small private college (about 2,900 undergraduates and 900 graduates ) in downtown Boston, was established in 1880 as a " School of Oratory " by Charles Wesley Emerson and specializes in communication sciences. The college is " Association of Schools and Colleges New England" accredited to the the admission as a student via an annual competition ( approximately 5,000 applications for 700 places ). The ratio of faculty to students is 1:14.

An academic degrees are awarded: Bachelor's degree ( BA), BFA, B.Sc., MasterCard (MA), MFA, MSSP. Study costs (2006-2007): U.S. $ 25,248 plus U.S. $ 10,870 for room and board (approximately two thirds of the students receive financial aid). The library of the Emerson College includes more than 175,000 volumes, 10,000 microfilms, 9,000 audiovisual materials and 7,000 e-books.

The current President is Jacqueline Weis Dear God. At Emerson College, the renowned literary journal Ploughshares is located.
