Emigrante

Emigrante is the second studio album by the Cuban band Orishas. It was released on 11 June 2002 on Universal Latino, and mixes modern hip-hop with Cuban folk music such as Son and Bolero. The album won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Rap / Hip- Hop Album in 2003 and was also nominated for a Grammy in the category "Best Latin Rock / Alternative Album " nominated.

Background

The musicians lived at the time of the photography in exile in Paris, Milan and Madrid, was recorded the album in Spain and France. The band is dedicated to all immigrants worldwide and dealt with their problems and the lack of rights which are granted to them. Nevertheless, the band Emigrante does not see as a political album.
