Emil Andreev
Emil Andreev ( Emil Andreev wrote, Bulgarian Емил Андреев; born September 1, 1956 in Lom, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian writer.
Life and work
After studying English literature and a postgraduate diploma in journalism, he was a high school teacher, an editor at various newspapers, translator and English lecturer at the Faculty of Theology, University of Sofia active. Since 2001 he works as a freelance writer and dramatist.
His novel The Crystal River is one of the best-selling books in Bulgaria. The same film was presented at the 14th Sofia International Film Festival to the general public in 2010. The successful director Stanimir Trifonov hired some of the most famous Bulgarian actors for the film. The novel The Crystal River has been translated into Romanian.
Texts by Emil Andreev were translated into English, Polish, Romanian, Serbian and Slovak.
His plays have been performed in various theaters in Bulgaria, including the Theater of Satire in Sofia.
Emil Andreev is married and has two children. He lives in Sofia, but most of the year he spends in his 100 - year-old farmhouse in the mountains near Sofia, where he finds the peace and quiet to write.
