Emil Handschin

Emil Handschin ( born March 19, 1928 in Basel, † May 27, 1990 ) was a Swiss ice hockey player. He played as a defender. He completed a total of 133 caps for Switzerland at the Olympics (1948, 1952 and 1956 ) and World and European Championships (1950, 1951, 1953). At the 1948 Olympic Games in St. Moritz, he won the bronze medal with Switzerland.

Handschin began his career at SC Bern, where he played in 1945 a short time before moving to HC Davos. From 1946 until his retirement in late 1961, he played for EHC Basel, where he gained legendary status.

Handschin founded in 1962 his own sanitary operation, Emil Handschin AG. He died in 1990 in Basel.
