Emile Daems

Emile Daems ( born April 4, 1938 in Genval ) is a former Belgian cyclist.

Emile Daems was a professional racing car driver 1959 until 1966. Biggest success of his cycling career were the classics victories at the Giro di Lombardia in 1960, at Milan - Sanremo in 1962 and the following year at Paris- Roubaix.

Daems 1960 won the Giro dell'Appennino, the Tour of Lombardy, and the National Sluitingsprijs. He also won this year two stages of the Giro d' Italia. In 1961 he won the Giro di Sardegna. Four times he started 1961-1964 in the Tour de France, won four stages, three of them in the Tour in 1962, where he also finished second in the overall standings for the green jersey.

After the end of his active cycling career Daems opened a restaurant in his hometown Genval.
