Émilie Pellapra

Émilie Louise Marie Françoise Joséphine Pellapra (* November 11, 1806, † May 22, 1871 at Castle MENARS ) was the first daughter of Napoléon Bonaparte.

In April 1805 her father got Napoleon, Emperor of the French in Lyon her mother, Françoise -Marie LeRoy, wife of a noble businessman, Henri ( de ) Pellapra to know. About them and the circumstances of the relationship, little is known.

When Napoleon learned of the pregnancy, he was far from convinced of his paternity, after all, you could be the father after all, still dragging the husband into consideration. A recognition of his side came for the scandals loathing Napoléon in no case in question, it was Monsieur Henri ( de ) Pellapra, presumably with a not small amount of money, persuaded as to accept that the child is his.

After a few years the appearance of the girl did not leave any doubt as to Napoleon's paternity: While not, however, came Émilie, unlike her half-brothers Alexandre Walewski and Léon Denuelle, absolutely for her father, but all the more after her aunt Pauline Bonaparte, one of the most beautiful women their time.

About their unspectacular life little is known: As a young woman she married a count and had twins, but a year after their marriage, her husband died. Later she married the Prince of Chimay Caraman, the Belgian ambassador at the court of Napoleon III. Also she gave him children, but the exact number is not known. As the sole of her uncle Jérome Bonaparte had contact with her, including her half-brother Alexandre was one of her acquaintances.

At the age of 65 years, Emilie de Chimay Caraman died in 1871 at Schloss MENARS, their place of residence.
