Emilio Lozoya

José Emilio Lozoya Thalmann ( born May 15, 1948 in Mexico City) is a Mexican economist and politician PRI. He was Secretario de Energía, Minas e Industria Paraestatal during the reign of Carlos Salinas de Gortari.

Life

Emilio Lozoya is the son of the physician and general Jesús Solís Lozoya, a major Mexican pediatrician, politician, general and businessman, who was governor of the state of Chihuahua for some time.

He himself visited the Colegio Alemán Alexander von Humboldt in Mexico City and ended in 1964 the school education, put after studying at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM) on 30 June 1970, his diploma degree in economics from and earned thereafter in the United states a master's degree in business administration from Columbia University and one in public administration from Harvard University. He was a friend since his student days at the UNAM with Carlos Salinas de Gortari, Manuel Camacho Solís, José Ruiz Massieu Francisco, Alberto Anaya y Hugo Andrés Araujo. He was Treasurer-General of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, IMSS ) and then during the period of government of Miguel de la Madrid Hurtado sub Minister in the Ministry of Labor and Welfare ( Secretaría del Trabajo y Prevision Social). Lozoya undertook a multiple -month study trip to China and wrote several articles about it.

Salinas de Gortari appointed him at his accession in 1988 to the Director General of the Institute for Social Security of state employees (Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado, ISSSTE ). He held until 1993 this post. Then he was up to the end of the term Secretario de Energía, Minas e Industria Paraestatal.

After the reign of Salinas de Gortari withdrew Emilio Lozoya from politics and became President of CROWN Comunicaciones, SA de CV Emilio Lozoya Austin His son is also a well-known economist and politician.
