EMILY's List

EMILY 's List is a political action committee in the United States, the candidates of the Democratic Party support, campaigning for the right to abortion.

EMILY is an acronym for "Early Money Is Like Yeast " ( Early money is like yeast), in reference to the saying "Early money is like yeast: it helps the dough rise" ( " dough " means dough, but is colloquially for money). The saying refers to the fact that early donations are important in an American election campaign to convince other potential donors.

EMILY 's List was founded in 1985 by 25 women to Ellen Malcolm.

In the pre-election campaign of U.S. presidential election 2008 EMILY 's List supported Senator Hillary Clinton.
